GOD GAVE US THE POWER OF CHOICE

• Here is God's plan of salvation for us

"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."
{Isaiah 53:6}

 

"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
{Romans 3;23}

 

"The wages of sin is death."
{Romans 6:23a}

 

"The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
{Romans 6:23b}

 

"Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
{Romans 10:13}

• We must realize that we are condemned sinners

"There is none righteous, no not one . . . there is none that doeth good, no not one . . . there is no difference: for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
{Romans 3:10,12,23}

What is the sin that every single person in the world is guilty of? It is "turning to his own way!" We think that is the best way to live, but God describes it as the iniquity that is so horrible, that He had to lay it on His Son as He died on the cross for us. Turning to our own way is so bad that Christ had to die so that we could be forgiven!

• We must repent of our sin

"God . . . commandeth all men everywhere to repent"
{Acts 17:30}

• Repentance is explained in Matthew 21:28-29
  
  Repentance is not the same as being sorry of sin; godly sorrow will produce repentance, but there is a sorrow, which we have only because we have been caught. Sorrow for sin is godly only if it produces surrender to God's authority. 

"For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation"
{2 Corinthians 7:10}.

• We must receive the Lord Jesus Christ

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:" {John 1:12}.

 

We do not receive Him by church rituals, or sensational feelings, but as John 16:24 says, by asking. "Every one that asketh receiveth."

 

Will you admit you're a sinner and cannot possibly save yourself?  The only ones who are going to Heaven are sinners saved by God's grace!

 

Will you believe? Will you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior today? He died for YOU! He was buried and rose again.  God promises that if we'll call upon the Lord, He will give us eternal life in heaven.

 

You should make your decision for Christ today.  Tomorrow, or even later today, may be too late.  Don't put it off.  Ask God to save you today!

 

If you'll take Jesus as your Savior, pray from your heart,

 

"Heavenly Father, today I receive Jesus Christ as my Savior from sin and its penalty. I believe He died for me and was buried and rose again.  I trust that His sacrifice and shed blood was for the forgiveness of my sin. Please come into my heart and give to me eternal life. In Jesus' name, Amen."
