"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men,
who shall be able to teach others also."
{2 Timothy 2:2}

BIBLICAL PURPOSE FOR DISCIPLESHIP

The Apostles were discipled by Jesus Christ.

Paul experienced discipleship.

Paul discipled others, including Timothy and Titus.

These faithful followers of Christ discipled others.

"Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.  And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."

"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

"And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.  This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.  And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly."

"And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.  These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.  Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few."
